~ Done for a request on the Kallisti II charity livestream. Someone wanted Zecora as an alicorn, and since I adore Zecora, I tried to give it a shot. Turned into a painting experiment. Not quite what I wanted to achieve, but I hope it came out okay still. I really have to learn more about painting.
... My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (c) by Hasbro and Studio B ...
It's always pleasant to see artwork that relies on the use of a very limited palette of colours. For this one, the effect could not have been better.
I always imagined Zecora as something more that she actually shows, that she is not only a mere inhabitant of the Everfree Forest, but something more. Therefore I absolutely love this depiction of her. This picture really manages to fuel my imagination.
The glowing flowers on the ground only add to the impression that Zecora is in fact some kind of empress (or princess) of the Everfree. The limited use of only one color for the various glow effects (flowers, eyes, horn) indicates her bonds and spiritual affinity between her and the Everfree Forest.
Is it intended for the rings around her neck to be missing? I looked at the picture quite a few times now and am still not sure, as her earrings are present but necessary to notice who she is right away.
Holy... this looks amazing! I am not good with art... hell I don't know shading from palettes or whatever... but I know what I like: and this is great!
